The Barra Strait Mi’kmaq Friendship Festival – Mawoi’mi Tewitk is seeking an original, iconic image to represent this year’s gathering. The winning design will be featured on official event t-shirts and promotional materials, including apparel for Wheelhouse Cafe staff.

We hope receive submissions that captures the spirit of this wonderful gathering along the Barra Strait – a landmark initiative centered on Mi’kmaq history and friendship. We hope the submissions would deepen community connections, promote cultural understanding, and celebrate the rich heritage of the Mi’kmaq people.

AECOM Canada has provided sponsorship of prize money the contest. The first prize is $400.00 and the winners artwork will be printed on event t-shirts. The runner up will be awarded $200. The contest will be close July 17, 6pm 2025. Our judging team will evaluate the submissions the selected artwork would be printed on T-shirts for the event, and to be worn by Wheelhouse Café Staff.

DEADLINE for Submissions JULY 17, 6 pm AST

We are looking for artwork that:
- Captures the spirit of Mi’kmaq friendship and culture.
- Reflects the significance of the Barra Strait and Bras d’Or Lake
- Celebrates themes of connection, tradition, and community
- May incorporate concepts such as: Friendship Treaties, Mi’kmaq medicine wheel, the spirit of the lake speaks

Format: logo are to be submit camera ready 6" x 6" *.pdf or *.jpg format. 4 colors max, used bold text if text is incorporated
Images will be enlarged to as are as 12 " x 12 for t-shirt production.
