We are actively looking to hire keen individuals to fill various positions at the waterfront. We will be hiring for the following positions:

Hiring - Head Cook

We are looking for an experienced head cook to take charge of kitchen operations, including leading the staff in all matters related to food preparation. 

Responsibilities:
- Interviewing, hiring, and training cooks and other kitchen staff.
- Planning/supervising tasks carried out by the food preparation staff.
- Taking responsibility for the health and safety of the food team.
- Ordering food and supplies, and keeping an updated inventory.
- Checking delivery of supplies and verifying prices.
- Checking regularly that the equipment and work areas are kept clean.
- Keeping abreast of and complying with health and safety regulations.
- Menu planning and pricing.
- Work closely with cafe manager.

Qualifications:
- A high school diploma or equivalent.
- Training at a community college or culinary arts school.
- At least 2 years’ experience working as a head cook.
- The ability to multitask and cope in a high-pressure environment.
- Excellent leadership and communication skills.

Hiring - Cooks and Servers

We are looking for cafe cooks and servers for the 2024 summer season. All ages may apply. Must be available to work weekends.

Cook Job Description:
- Prepare required food ingredients.
- Cook and prepare menu items.
- Ensure presentation of menu items are of high standard.
- Keep sanitized and orderly environment in the kitchen.
- Ensure all food and other items are stored properly.
- Check quality of ingredients.
- Monitor stock and alert head cook of shortages.
- Ensure all dishes, pots, pans, utensils are kept clean.

Qualifications: Experience as a cook, ability to follow sanitation procedures, ability to work as a team, very good communication skills, high school diploma, food handling certificate.

Server Job Description:
- Preparing tables for service with special attention to sanitation/order.
- Attending to customers upon entry to cafe.
- Presenting menus, taking orders, serving and cleaning tables.
- Issue bills and accept payment.
- Assisting with dishwashing as required.

Qualification: Restaurant serving experience, hands-on experience in cashier duties, attention to cleanliness and safety, excellent people skills, responsible and trustworthy, experience with TouchBistro POS system an asset.

Hiring - Marina Attendants

We are hiring Marina Attendants for the 2024 summer season.

Responsibilities:
Assist boats entering and leaving dock area, maintain clean showers, laundry and washroom areas, assist with groundskeeping and light maintenance duties, assist with cafe operations when required and collect garbage/recyclables on a daily basis.

Qualifications:
- Self motivated
- Good communication skills
- Team player

Hiring - Business Development Coordinator

With assisted funding from the N.S. Student Summer Skills Incentive program (SKILL), we are accepting resumes for the position of Business Development Coordinator. Applicant must be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program.
Approx. starting date: May 27th.

Responsibilities:
- The Business Development Coordinator will oversee all other student employment and provide a supervisory role when required.
- Be aware of all student employee responsibilities and provide replacement role on off days.
- Assist with making and distributing promotional material.
- Assist cafe manager with menu pricing, updating point of sale equipment, bookkeeping and other clerical duties. 
- Assist with all waterfront activities and special events, and provide support when required for community hall and cafe operations.
- Assist with preparing site for seasonal startup.
- Report directly to operations manager.

Qualifications:
- Applicant must be self-motivated, organized, have good communication skills and a keen interest in business development.
- Applicant must be entering or currently enrolled in a full-time post-secondary program.
- The student must be a permanent resident of the province or live in Nova Scotia for at least six months prior to the work term. Note: This requirement can be waived for international students who plan to stay in Nova Scotia after the work term.
